Veneziano Antonio

Italian painter active in Siena, Florence and Pisa. In 1384-87 he completed the St. Ranier frescoes begun by Andrea da Firenze in the Campo Santo at Pisa. Other frescoes by him are now lost except for some ruined fragments of Passion and Marian subjects in Florence. His Venetian origin is perhaps responsible for the lively color and play of light observed in the Pisan frescoes.

  • The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web. Pablo Picasso
The arts are fundamental to our humanity. They ennoble and inspire us—fostering creativity, goodness, and beauty. The arts help us express our values, build bridges between cultures, and bring us together regardless of ethnicity, religion, or age. When times are tough, art is salve for the ache.
