THE BROKEN JUG A young girl in a white frock, three-quarter length, stands facing us, glancing downwards, her hands bathered over a sheaf of flowers in her lap. Over her right arm hangs a broken earthenware kettle. Behind her on the right is a stone fountain, the water coming from the mouth of a lion.
